Challenge
Entech set out to reimagine the commercial thermostat. Going beyond a standalone controller, Entech developed a distributed intelligence system that dramatically improves energy efficiency in legacy buildings. The challenge was to develop a robust, scalable hardware solution that could seamlessly interface with existing infrastructure, house advanced sensing and control electronics, and deliver a premium, consumer-like user experience in a rugged, commercial-grade package. All of this needed to be achieved to support pilot deployments and unlock broader market entry.
Solution
Glassboard collaborated closely with Entech to architect a modular hardware system consisting of a central control hub, wireless temperature sensors, and an array of wired sensors. Our team engineered the embedded systems to support BACnet integration, cloud-based control, and low-latency communication across devices. Mechanical and thermal designs were optimized for performance and reliability in high-density commercial environments, all while supporting scalable manufacturing and easy deployment.
Result
The Entech S2 launched as a best-in-class energy management system offering enterprise-grade capabilities with an intuitive, user-centered design. Buildings using S2 have reported energy savings up to 35%, and the system has been rolled out in schools, office buildings, and industrial facilities across the U.S. The successful launch has positioned Entech as a leader in the next generation of intelligent building solutions, with a hardware platform built for scale.
